Vicar of the Parish of Southern Hawke’s Bay

Expressions of interest are now been sought for a full-time Vicar as part of a new development in mission and ministry for the communities of Dannevirke, Weber and Woodville  and their neighbouring districts.

The Vicar of the Parish of Southern Hawke’s Bay will need to be an experienced priest with the ability to lead, educate, enable ministry for laity and clergy alike and relate to a variety of local rural communities. It will be important for the Vicar to establish relationships with the current ministry teams in each community, to value their history and experience in ministry and to see how and where ministry may develop in the parish. It will also be important for the Vicar to establish an identity in the local communities, to build a community profile for the position and encourage confidence from the local communities in the new Parish of Southern Hawke’s Bay.

The role of the Vicar will include a portion of their time devoted to education for the needs of the local parish and in support of the Diocesan Ministry Educator particularly focused on the needs of rural ministry settings. In recognition of this aspect of the role, part of the stipend is funded from the Diocesan Ministry Education budget.

The Vicar of the Parish of Central Hawke’s Bay will need to be an experienced priest with the ability to lead, educate, enable ministry for laity and clergy alike and relate to a variety of local rural communities. It will be important for the Vicar to establish relationships with the current ministry teams in each community, to value their history and experience in ministry and to see how and where ministry may develop in the parish. It will also be important for the Vicar to establish an identity in the local communities, to build a community profile for the position and encourage confidence from the local communities in the new Parish of Central Hawke’s Bay.
