Worship: Relaxed traditional Eucharist on Sunday; some Te Reo used.  Meditative half hour Holy Communion on Thursday. All services begin at 9.45am.

Messy Church at St Barnabas ...a different way of being church!  4th Sunday of the month, 4-6pm 
Join us for fun, interactive, Christ-centred worship for all ages!
Light meal provided.    Invite your family and friends.  All welcome.

Messy Church began in the UK in 2004 and is now established in many places around the world.

Ethos: All welcome, with opportunities for all ages to be nurtured and encouraged to grow in faith and love.

Children: Seen as extremely important. They are included in all aspects of worship and their ministry is recognised.
 
Pastoral Care: Team of seven led by a coordinator provides comprehensive, structured support network that includes all parishioners, especially the frail elderly.

Social: Refreshments and fellowship after every service; games afternoons and evenings; frequent parish lunches, occasional dinner with guest speaker. Any excuse for celebration and fun together!

Training: Forum/training after fourth Sunday service; two home groups; growing Bible study group on Thursdays; parishioners assisted to attend training seminars.

Outreach:  “Music and Movement” for pre-schoolers; support for Churches Education Commission programmes in schools; school "helpers" in primary school next door; activities with St Barnabas Close retirement; Op Shop; ecumenical focus - supporting Presbyterian community centre outreach in Ngongotaha; support for ‘Progress Ngongotaha’ (community committee) activities; support for social justice initiatives.
 
Overseas Missions: Very active support for Anglican and other missions, with frequent fundraising events.

Highlights: Christmas, Easter and Pentecost and St Barnabas Day; Maundy Thursday dinner with Holy Communion; annual missions' lunch with guest speaker.
