Taradale Anglican Church – Te whanau mihinare ki Ōtatara

The Anglican church in Taradale is a community of churches and congregations that seeks to serve God through serving their suburb and their city. Having been in Napier for nearly 150 years, our communities have been at the heart of Taradale, Tamatea and Meeanee for generations.

As a community we prioritise relationships. Because of this, we offer a wide range of activities and gatherings that seek to bring people together over food, fun, conversation and shared passions. We offer a pre-school music group, scrabble afternoons, drop-in centres, fortnightly community lunches, walking and cycling groups, youth groups as well as men’s’ breakfasts and women’s’ fellowship.

As a worshipping community we are a mixed tradition, holding to those things from ancient times that serve the church and God, while constantly reforming to ensure we are able to meet God in what God is doing right now, today. In our communities, that means that sometimes there are robes and structured liturgy, other times there is unstructured contemporary worship. Sometimes we use the prayer book, and sometimes we throw the book away, get on the floor with the kids, and do crafts and activities that connect them with God.

If that all sounds a little messy and unclear, you're right. We don't get caught up in looking the part for anyone. Instead, we want to worship the God that has called us all to be saints in the kingdom of heaven and who meets us in Christ, the Son. If that is a bit of you, or if you are intrigued, come along. To understand us, you have to worship with us.
