Waiapu Cathedral of St John the Evangelist

The Waiapu Cathedral of St John the Evangelist follows the style and range of services of other New Zealand cathedrals, with a good choir and impressive organ. Services are also held at Ormond Chapel, Napier Terrace.

Worship:
Sundays at the Cathedral, corner of Browning and Hastings Streets, Napier -
8am: Eucharist in the Aotearoa Chapel.
10am: Choral Eucharist with the Cathedral Choir; Cathedral Kids children’s programme is offered during school terms; one the first Sunday of the month (delete all of this), the 10am service is a Parish Eucharist with the Cathedral Choristers (delete), an inter-active service for all ages; morning tea afterwards.

Sundays at Ormond Chapel, Napier Tce on the second and fourth (delete) Sundays of the month: 11am: traditional Holy Communion.

Mid-week at the Cathedral -
Thursday, 10.30am: a quiet Eucharist in the Prayer Room

The Waiapu Cathedral Church of St John the Evangelist in Napier is a place of resurrection, life and hope. The people of the Cathedral are a living community sharing the Christian journey together.
You are welcome whether you come as a tourist, an occasional worshipper, a person seeking a spiritual journey, or a person seeking a spiritual home.
You are welcome to join the journey with us for a few moments or for a lifetime. Cathedral people are community facing, seeking to respond to the needs of our city, region and our Diocese of Waiapu. Cathedral people worship God using the liturgy of Anglican tradition in a contemporary way, seeking and celebrating God’s presence in music, mystery, word and sacrament.
We offer hospitality for worship, community gatherings, forums, celebrations and commemorations.

Children:
Cathedral Kids is offered every Sunday during school term time at 10am service for children up to 12 years of age; Cathedral Choristers sing at the monthly Parish Eucharist service (usually on the first Sunday of the month)
